Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made a powerful assertion in Guwahati, expressing his readiness to face any penalties, even retirement from public life, if concrete proof emerges that his spouse has acquired or sought any funds from the Indian authorities.
“I wish to stress as soon as extra that neither my spouse nor her related firm has ever acquired or claimed any funds from the Indian authorities. If anybody can present substantial proof, I’m absolutely ready to just accept any penalties, together with stepping away from public service,“ the chief minister acknowledged in response to a remark by Congress Deputy Chief in Lok Sabha, Gaurav Gogoi, on ‘X’.
